Capt. Rex Rox June 3, 2010 Maggie May Yesterday I bought this Captain Rex helmet for [...]. The helmet comes in several parts, so it must be assembled. Trust me when I say: take the time to snap it together right! This helmet will NOT fall apart if it is assembled correctly. It took a fair amount of pressure to snap the pieces into place, but that also means it won't come apart while it's being used. (It also takes a few trys to get the head strap fitted right.) The helmet's antenna has a light on it that glows red when switched on. Another cool feature is the clone com. system. While pressing a botton on the side of the helmet, the user can speak through a mic that makes your voice sound (slightly) like a clone. Some reviews say that the mic is too low, but it can be ajusted towards the wearer's mouth if needed. The helmet also has several pre-recorded phrases spoken by Capt. Rex, Anakin, and Yoda. In case you are wondering, the visibility is fairly decent while wearing the helmet. (I'll admitt I tripped on a low object once.) Overall, this is great for yourself, a gift, or anyone who likes Star Wars! (I'm gonna get one for my friend as soon as possible!)Great buy!
Not that impressed May 8, 2010 Homemaker (Rockford, IL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My 6 year old wanted this for Christmas REALLY bad. I thought it would be PERFECT gift because my son loves Captain Rex from the Clone Wars and loves to dress up as a clone but didn't like the masks. This helmet seemed to be the answer to the problem. Unfortunately, while I think the manufacturers tried to make it wearable, it's just not. Even with the head straps on the inside of the helmet that allow you to adjust the width AND height, it just is too bulky and wobbly on his head. Whenever he tries to run with it, he has to hold it with one hand. Also, it comes apart easily and it takes an adult to get it back together. He still wants to keep it though, and it has become a decoration on top of his dresser and something he loves to show to his friends but that is it. The reason I ranked it 1 star was just because it never gets played with. Great concept, but needs to be made better.
Great fun for kids and for parents fans of Star War saga ;) April 27, 2010 Sergio Civile (Buenos Aires, Argentina) The only negative thing is that the height of the microphone can not be adjusted to the mouth position. So sometimes what you speak does not reach with power the mic.
Everything else is great.
A great buy, if you get a good deal. February 16, 2010 E. Adams (Seattle area, WA) My son got this for Christmas from Santa and loves it. Since it is "one size fits all" it can get a little tricky to get it to fit his head (and his younger brothers when he decides to share) just right so it feels secure. Plus the voice box to talk into is a little low, so we can't totally get it to sound like he wants it to without holding it just so. His 2 year old brother has taken off the antennae piece lots of times and so far it's gone back on without a problem or any obvious wear. We got it on sale for about $20, and it was worth it. I don't think I would have paid much more than that for it (but I am a total budget shopper). Overall its been great and we would definitely recommend this to any stars wars fan.
Fun for the whole family February 8, 2010 Kelly L. Boots (NY) This helmet seems to be very durable. The kids play with it for hours. The only problems with it is that it is hard to put together. Also, it is very large for my 8 year old's head. He has to lift it up to talk into it.
